There are two factors that decide whether or not you need a visa. The first is the length of your stay, and the second is the number of times you wish to enter Vietnam. Not many people are able to enter Vietnam without a tourist visa. However, those with a German passport have a 15 day visa exemption, so there is no need to apply for a visa if the length of stay will not exceed 15 days. Additionally, A gap of at least 30 days between two visa-free visits is required. If you fail to show this, there may be complications.

If you plan on entering Vietnam again within 30 days after leaving the country with a visa-free, you will have to get another visa. As most nationalities, Germans are required to acquire a visa for longer stays in Vietnam. The visa procedure now is very easy though and fast to get. There is no need to go through the hassle of finding the embassy or consulate, carry important documents with you and having to go back and forth. Now you can apply for an e-visa (30 days, single entry) safely from the comforts of your home or wherever you are in the world. The Vietnam e-Visa (30 days, single entry) simplifies the entire process and only takes about 3-5 minutes to complete. Once you have submitted your application, it should take about 24-72 hours for approval. After it has been approved of, the e-visa will be sent as a PDF via email.
