Vietnam e-visa requirements for Koreans

The Vietnam e-Visa (30 days, single entry) is an electronic visa that Vietnam has introduced for eligible nations (Contry list for Vietnam e-visa), to make the visa process easier. You can now apply for your travel authorization online and can thus avoid going to the embassy or consulate. There is no need for you to go anywhere anymore, you can apply for this type of visa safely from home or wherever you are in the world.

South Korea is one of the 81 eligible countries whose citizens can obtain an e-Visa for Vietnam electronically. This means that Korean citizens may apply online for an e-visa prior to traveling to Vietnam. This way, you avoid any unnecessary visa procedures upon arrival in Vietnam. If you would, for example, get a Visa on Arrival instead, you will have to queue with other travelers in order to receive a stamp in your passport. This time varies depending on the amount of travelers, but it usually is for quite some time.

South Korean citizens belong to a list of countries whose citizens are exempt from having to present a visa under the visa waiver program.

Vietnam e-visa requirements for South Koreans

As with every nationality, there are certain Vietnam e-visa requirements that must be fulfilled. First of all, you must make sure that your passport has a validity of 6 months beyond the date of arrival in Vietnam. If you fail to prove this, you cannot complete the e-visa application or receive an approved Vietnam e-visa.

In addition to having a passport that is valid, Korean travelers must also state their email address so they can receive their e-Visa once the application has been screened and approved of. The last step is to fill out your credit or debit card in order to pay for the Vietnam e-visa fee. Minors who wishes to travel to Vietnam from South Korea must also have their own e-visa in order to be allowed into the country. Applicants of 14 years or over must have their own e-visa and passport, while children under the age of 14 should be included in their parents or guardian’s e-visa application.

In order to obtain a Vietnam e-visa for South Koreans, applicants must have certain information available to complete the application process. The following are the required information:

  • Personal details of applicant including full name, date of birth, nationality, etc.
  • Passport data such as document number, expiry date, etc.
  • Travel information including length and place of stay
  • Health, immigration, and security history such as criminal background, history of vaccinations, etc.

South Korean citizens can have their Vietnam e-visa application done within only a few minutes. It is that simple and quick to complete! Once your application is complete, the screening process should take no more than business days, although there have been delays in the past. Therefore, it is always recommended that you apply for you e-visa in good time. 7 business days prior to arrival is always recommended. Once your e-visa has been approved of and sent to you to your email, do not forget to print it out so you may show it to the border control once you have landed in Vietnam.
